Conditioners

by Chief Educator Claire

All conditioners do the same thing, right? 🤷‍♀️

WRONG!! For a long time, we were led to believe all conditioners do the same job, mostly to detangle and make hair soft and shiny, so why give it another thought? However, what conditioner you use plays a big part in how your wash day turns out and how long it lasts!

There are some basic telltale signs that your hair will give you if it's not to its liking, like the ones below.

📌Curly Tip: Conditioner is crucial for all hair types, but not every conditioner will work for your hair type

Cleansers

You've probably heard me say this before, but I'm going to say it again.. cleansing your hair correctly and with the right cleanser for your hair type is crucial! If it's not done correctly, everything you do after this kind of doesn't matter.

So let's break down each of the cleansers so you can ensure you're reaching for the right one!

📌Curly Tip: Always double cleanse with your cleanser of choice and remove thoroughly; when you think you've got it all out, RINSE AGAIN!

Multiple Curl Patterns

by Chief Educator Claire

If you have multiple curl patterns in your hair, I hear you! 🙋‍♀️

Most people with textured hair have more than one type of pattern on their heads and I'm one of them!

Your curl pattern can be identified by the shape of the strands of hair, whether they kink, curve, or wind around themselves into spirals—but that doesn't mean they're all the same.

Ingredients

by Chief Educator Claire

Do the ingredients in products matter?

Each formulation of the product you're using should not only fulfill its primary role but should go some way to contributing to your hair health. In the same way, if you use products containing ingredients that are harmful to your hair, such as sulfates and drying alcohols, you will see a negative effect on your curls & waves.

Jess knew exactly what she was doing when formulating this line! 🙌 Products that help hair health while cleansing, conditioning, and styling.

Cream v Gel

Cream v Gel

by Chief Educator Claire

The perfect duo 🧡

Before starting my curly journey, I was a one-and-done kind of girl when it came to styling, and the thought of using cream on my hair didn't seem right!

How wrong can one be?! 🤦‍♀️

There are many different styling products, but for most, cream and gel are essential for the end styling result and hair health.

by Chief Educator Claire

Haven't got time to wash before your next event? No problem!

Refreshing your curls couldn't be easier with Awe Inspiraling Spray; I'm not a huge fan of full refreshes, so this is a great one-and-done product for when my curls need a pick-me-up.

📌Curly Tip: The mini bottle of this is great for touch-ups on the go, and a must for any party season! 💃

Split Ends & Length Retention

by Chief Educator Claire

Growing curls is difficult enough; throw Split ends into the mix, and your dreams of long curls seem further from reality. Spilt ends cause breakage and frizz, making it harder to get your hair to your desired length.

Dryness, harsh ingredients, aggressive detangling, and excessive heat can contribute to split ends and retaining length.

Here are three products you can add to your routine to help prevent this.
