Put Your Hair Up!

Many of us have such a complicated relationship with our curls. Loving them but struggling with how difficult it can be to take care of them while living an active lifestyle. We’re always on the search for new and better alternatives to traditional hair ties that cause breakage & nasty knots, disrupt the natural curl pattern, and are not the most fashionable.

There are so many options for putting your hair back or tying it up, but finding the right one that won’t wreak havoc on your ringlets can be tricky. Some notable choices for us Curlies include spiral hair ties, clips, and hair pins- but nothing beats a great scrunchie. Highly versatile and gentle on curls, scrunchies are a dependable and no-fuss choice.

Now, not all scrunchies are created equal. We don’t even want to remember all the times that we ripped a chunk of hair out trying to get a scrunchie out of our hair after the gym! No need to spiral, we’re here to help clear things up.

Top Tips For Choosing A Scrunchie:

  1. The Feel of the Fabric: Much like the fabric of your hair towel, the fabric your scrunchie is made out of makes a difference. Stay away from coarse materials or textured fabrics that rough up the hair strands creating frizz, breakage, & terrible tangles. Instead, opt for a smooth fabric such as satin or a vegan silk alternative.
  2. Tighter Isn’t Better: Your curls should feel secure, but your scrunchie should never be causing tension. Not only does this disrupt curls and cause breakage, but no one wants to be left fighting with a nasty headache in the middle of a workout or, even worse, a record-breaking heat wave. Opt for a scrunchie that gently holds your curls and feels comfortable!
  3. Your Style Statement: This is largely a personal preference, like any other fashion decision. Some prefer a sleek style with minimal fabric that allows their scrunchie to blend in without any bulk. Others prefer for their scrunchie to be a statement piece with voluminous fabric accentuating their bun or ponytail. If you prefer trying more intricate hairstyles such as braiding or updos, it is recommended to go with a sleeker scrunchie.

With all of these factors in mind, we jumped at the opportunity when one of our local Curlies began crafting vegan Handmade Eucalyptus Silk Scrunchies

They're silky smooth, and gentle on your curls, whether you're tucking them in for the night or styling them for a daytime updo! They provide many of the benefits of traditional silk scrunchies, without any animal products, and are completely biodegradable. The fabric used is sourced from sustainably managed forests and spun using a closed-loop production process that recovers & reuses water as well as more than 99% of solvents.

How could anyone pass that up? We sure couldn’t - so sit back, relax, & put your hair up!
