Hair oils can be intimidating and are hands-down one of the trickiest products to use correctly. Nobody wants to end up with greasy or weighed-down hair, meaning they can often be overlooked or used incorrectly.

Here is a quick guide to make oil work for you and your curls!

HOW TO APPLY

Always remember, less is more!

Start with a small amount: Use a half to one drop of oil for dry spot treatment, or one drop for overall application

Warm the oil: Rub the oil between your fingers or hand pads to gently warm it. This will help with distribution.

Focus on mid-shafts and ends: Apply the warmed oil to mid-shafts and ends of your hair, avoiding the roots.

If using for flyways, just focus on the areas where frizz is present.

DRY OR DAMP HAIR?

Oil can be used on wet and dry hair, depending on your hair type and needs.

Damp hair is more receptive to oil, allowing for better distribution, deeper hydration, and more effective penetration of the product into the hair shaft. It also helps reduce the amount of oil needed for effective moisturising.

Applying oil to dry hair can offer various benefits, such as frizz control, shine enhancement, scrunching out the crunch, and protection against heat and environmental factors. A small amount of oil is a great way to finish off and seal everything on wash day!

TAREGET THE PROBLEM AREAS ONLY

Dry, damaged ends and mid-lengths benefit the most from hair oil, as they are more prone to frizz and breakage. Adding oil from root to tip or in areas that aren’t needed will leave the hair feeling greasy and flat. Focusing on where it’s needed will add shine and enhance the definition of your curls.
